Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil
Baobab (Adansonia Digitata)
Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, or argan oil, is an excellent moisturizer rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, effectively hydrating and softening the skin. Its anti-inflammatory properties soothe irritation and reduce redness, making it beneficial for conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
Additionally, argan oil aids in healing minor cuts and burns due to its regenerative qualities. Importantly, it is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores, making it suitable for all skin types, including oily and acne-prone skin.
The extract of baobab tree, “the tree of life”, not only moisturises and revitalises the epidermis, but also replenishes your skin with an immediate tightening effect.
Baobab contains skin regenerating vitamin A, antioxidant vitamin E, and vitamin D3 that helps with calcium absorption. It is rich in nourishing fatty acid, linoleic acid, that helps soothe redness on the skin and plays a significant role in strengthening the lipid barrier of the epidermis. Dry or dehydrated skin who are looking for relief will be thrilled to discover its anti-inflammatory properties.
Blue Lotus (Nymphaea Caerulea)
The blue lotus, or blue lily was regarded by the ancient Egyptians as a symbol of creation and renaissance.
This active ingredient contributes to the rejuvenation of skin cells on two levels.
First, it reduces physiological oxidation induced in cells – damage that free radicals cause to the quality of the structure and function of cells – in the epidermis. Secondly, it reduces the physiological oxidation of proteins in the dermis, fighting against glycation, or the wrinkling of the skin – a chain reaction that disrupts the properties of collagens and elastin.
As an aquatic plant, blue lotus can reduce stress and give a relaxing and calming effect on skin due to its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It also reduces the pigmentation of skin and improves complexion with the inhibition of tyrosinase presence. Given the soothing and emollient activities, it relieves skin irritation, improves the texture of skin and helps clear acne.
Brown Algae (Laminaria Digitata)
The extract of brown algae protects against ageing and works as a cellular rejuvenator. Brown algae support cellular energy production and thus promote skin cell renewal. They slow the decline of collagen production and help to keep the skin elastic and smooth.
Astaxanthin, a marine-based antioxidant, naturally occurs in algae, helps maintain suppleness and reduces the appearance of fine lines. Concentrated in ceramides and fatty acids (Omega 3 and 6), brown algae also help boost hydration, promote a healthy skin barrier, and improve hyperpigmentation and complexion with the anti-melanogenic compounds.
Cogon Grass Root (Imperata Cylindrica Root)
Cogon Grass Root is rich in potassium and 3-dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP), an osmoprotective compound, to promote natural water supplies. This can help increase intercellular osmosis, as water is drawn into the cells, remaining there even after cleansing.
Cotton (Gossypium Herbaceum)
The flower of cotton is a symbol of softening and femininity. Cotton extract is known for the following properties: moisturising, soothing, restructuring and softening.
Cotton extract is high in vitamin E, antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, which are all anti-inflammatory, helping to soothe skin and calm redness.
It is highly moisturizing and nourishing due to its high concentration of antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids (omega-6 and omega-9). These fatty acids have a great impact on the skin's protective barrier. They strengthen and allow long-lasting hydration.
Desert Date oil also contains minerals (Potassium, Calcium, Copper, Zinc, Iron, Sodium) and Vitamins A, C and E, which give it antioxidant properties.
Desert Date (Balanites Roxburghii Seed Oil)
Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera Biennis)
Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera biennis) is particularly beneficial for sensitive skin due to its anti-inflammatory properties, thanks to gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), which effectively soothes irritation and helps conditions like eczema and acne.
The presence of phytosterols further promotes skin healing, aiding in the reduction of scars and blemishes for a smoother complexion. Additionally, its antioxidants combat free radicals, helping to reduce signs of aging and promote a more youthful appearance. This makes evening primrose oil an excellent choice for those with delicate or reactive skin types.
Four-o’clock Flower (Mirabilis Japala)
The four o'clock flower (Mirabilis jalapa) gets its name from its unique blooming pattern, opening in the late afternoon and remaining open through the night before closing by morning.
The four o'clock flower extract contains beneficial flavonoids and exhibits antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. It is valued for its soothing and calming effects, helping to reduce discomfort, visible redness, and support the skin's natural barrier function. Specifically, the extract can regulate overproduction of Nerve Growth Factor and TRPV1 receptor, thicken the epidermis, and improve the barrier function of the stratum corneum.
Overall, the four o'clock flower is a valuable botanical ingredient in sensitive skin care, helping to soothe, protect, and strengthen the skin.
Ginseng (Panax Ginseng Root Extract)
Ginseng is effective in boosting the circulation of the skin’s smallest blood vessels. It also helps suppress collagen degradation and protect the skin against UV-induced damage, which may otherwise accelerate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The presence of various bioactive compounds in ginseng, such as pectin, saponins, polysaccharides, vitamins B1, B2, and B12, make ginseng one of the ideal ingredients for boosting skin glow.
Our skin is home to millions of bacteria, fungi and viruses that compose the skin microbiota.
Skin microbiota promotes defense and immune responses, tissue repair and barrier functions. A healthy skin microbiota results in balanced and healthy looking skin.
Chlorella vulgaris is a single-cell green sea algae that research has found to be very beneficial to the skin as a healthy & balanced diet for skin microbiota. With its broad prebiotic action, it provides nourishment and promotes the growth of good bacteria.
This algae-derived ingredient also offers soothing and hydrating properties. It is rich in antioxidants that help defend skin from environmental stressors, and reverse the effect of microbiota dysbiosis on skin pH and redness.
Green micro-algae contains various biologically active compounds including growth factors, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing substances, and emollient compounds. It also inhibits an enzyme responsible for collagen and elastin destruction, preserving those fibers and skin firmness and suppleness.
Green micro-algae (Chlorella Vulgaris)
The high vitamin E and fatty acid content in hazelnut oil can help moisturize the skin, prevent sun damage, and slow down premature signs of aging. Hazelnut oil leaves skin soft and supple with no greasy residue.
It is non-comedogenic and has antibacterial qualities, which means it helps kill off existing bacteria lingering on your face, thus preventing acne breakouts from happening.
Hazelnut Oil (Corylus Avellana)
Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate)
The exceptional hygroscopic properties of the high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid moisturise the skin with natural water retention - retaining 1000 times its own weight in water - and control the perspiration of water.
The low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid penetrates into the skin’s structure, boosts skin’s own hyaluronic acid creation, reinforces skin cohesion and prevents transepidermal water loss. Skin roughness is reduced.
Hyaluronic acid can also tighten skin and minimise pores so they shrink and become invisible over time.
Jojoba oil (Simmondsia Chinensis)
Peptides are referring to the short chains of amino acids that build the blocks of all proteins such as collagen and elastin. We choose 2 palmitoylated matrikines to promote wrinkle smoothing which are primarily used in anti-aging formulations to help stimulate collagen production.
Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (or Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1) and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 activate the genes involved in the process of extracellular matrix renewal and cell proliferation. This supports the cutaneous repair process for the fragile and ultraviolet-damaged dermis and improves skin tone and elasticity.
Dipeptide Valyl-Tryptophane and lipopeptide Pal-GQPR are introduced in the eye serum formula to help fight under-eye bags and improve firmness and elasticity.
Dipeptide is a small synthetic peptide made up of the amino acids tryptophan and valine. It can help with skin renewal thereby helping with fine lines and wrinkles.
Rice Hull Powder (Oryza Sativa)
This ingredient is rich in Vitamin B and Vitamin E, which help treat hyperpigmentation, acne, and aging. It’s especially great for skin struggling with redness and dry patches as it helps soothe and soften. Rice hull powder is also very nourishing and moisturizing for all skin types.
Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii)
Silica
Shea butter has significant levels of vitamins A, E and F and is rich in antioxidants. It is considered as one of the best anti-aging agents for the skin. It stimulates the production of collagen, helps tissue regeneration and prevents fine lines and wrinkles.
Shea butter is anti-inflammatory; it helps to reduce redness (erythema) within your skin tissue and superficial irritations. The phytosterols in shea contain cinnamic acid esters, it also acts as a UV protectant – SPF 3.
Silica is commonly derived from natural sources such as quartz and various silicate minerals. In skincare products, it is often found in the form of silica gel or powdered silica, making it effective in a range of formulations, including creams, serums, and exfoliants.
Silica is well-regarded for its ability to strengthen collagen synthesis and enhance moisture retention. Its regenerative properties make it particularly beneficial for supporting the healing of minor abrasions and blemishes, promoting a smoother and more even complexion.
Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate
Squalane
Squalene is a major component of the human sebum and the hydrolipidic film, which guarantee the integrity and healthy appearance of the skin.
Squalane is a hydrogenated version of squalene. It is lighter and much more stable than squalene is, since it doesn't oxidize when exposed to the air.
The squalane derived from an unsaponifiable fraction of olive oil fatty acids, help restore the lipidic structure of the skin and act as a natural moisturizer preventing the TEWL ( Trans-Epidermal Water Loss ). Not only does squalane provide intense hydration but it is also very easily absorbed into our skin, because of how well it mimics the natural squalene that our body naturally produces.
Vitamin A Palmitate (Retinyl Palmitate)
Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate is a modified form of hyaluronic acid that offers enhanced benefits for the skin. Its smaller molecular size allows for better penetration, providing deeper hydration compared to standard hyaluronic acid.
This ingredient effectively retains moisture, keeping the skin plump and hydrated while improving elasticity and firmness. By promoting hydration, it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, it has soothing properties that benefit sensitive or irritated skin by reducing redness and inflammation, and it supports skin regeneration and repair, promoting an overall smoother texture.
This is an ingredient composed of palmitic acid and retinol (Vitamin A). It helps skin to make its own retinol to stimulate cell growth, increases enzyme activity and normalizes cell division. Pumping up the skin-renewal process, it turbo-boosts skin cell turnover and helps to regenerate collagen and elastin.
Vitamin A palmitate is also a powerful antioxidant that helps improve skin tone, the appearance of UV-damaged skin and wrinkling of the skin.
Remarks: Retinyl palmitate is gentle because it is the least irritating of the retinoid family. If you have extremely sensitive skin or a condition like rosacea and eczema, it’s best to start with one day a week and build up slowly, adding just one additional day each week and build up to as often as your skin can tolerate.
